I am not a sociologist, but…

International Sociology Association World Congress 2023 is done! āœ…

šŸ‘¤ Between the Crown entertainment complex and the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention centre, 3000 sociologists šŸ‘¤ floated around in non-places, in atriums and rooms so vast and out-of-scale šŸ‘¤ that they made it very hard to connect with colleagues. šŸ‘¤ Sparse bodies in soulless spaces.

[Project idea: a visual sociology of the bleakness of the #ISAWC2023 venues]

I have been staying close to RC21 Urban and Regional Development and RC57 Visual Sociology, with visual people, graffiti and street art people, urban people, protest people, senses and emotions people, known and novel people. Some really excellent stuff!

šŸ’„ That’s Rewa Marathe, Sam Holleran and Max Holleran representing the Melbourne Centre for Cities, we are missing Merrick Morley from the selfie (and thanks to Merrick for the action shot of my talk!)

PS Crown Resorts PROVIDE WATER FOUNTAINS AND STOP IT WITH THE PLASTIC ALREADY 🤬
